Healing Your Inner Child

What does it mean to heal your inner child?

It is a practice of reconnecting with the younger version of yourself by acknowledging and accepting your past so you can live a life with less burden and the haunting of your past.

How can you use softness to heal your inner child?

  1. Acknowledge your inner child exists.

  2. Stop talking to yourself critically; instead of saying “I am not good enough,” say “I am doing my best,” or “I am constantly bettering myself.”

  3. Let all your pent-up emotions out, let your inner child be loud, confused, sad, enthusiastic, passionate, etc., without feeling ashamed.

  4. Allow yourself to free any suppressed emotions associated with childhood experiences so you can let go of lingering childhood burdens.

  5. Give your inner child what she was denied, whether it’s a safe space to celebrate your imperfections or finding a community where you feel safe and not judged.

    She deserves more.

    You deserve more.

    Black women deserve more.
